[Ohio_LT] Ohio Land Use Conference 2008

Ohio State University Extension will host its annual Ohio Land Use Conference on November 17, 2008.  The theme of this year's program is Land Use Policy in Turbulent Times.

 

The conference will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the new Nationwide & Ohio Farm Bureau 4-H Center at OSU in Columbus, Ohio.  Registration is $55 and includes all meals and materials.  The registration deadline is November 10.

 

The program includes:

 

*         Sean Logan, Director of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources will speak on " Regional Approaches to Resource Protection"

*         Marvin Hayes, Governor Strickland's Director of Urban Development and Infrastructure, on "The Prosperity Agenda"

*         "Energy and Land Use in Ohio:  Prospects, Promises and Problems," featuring Kimberly Gibson of Ohio's Air Quality Development Authority, Dr. Matt Roberts of OSU's Department of Agricultural, Environmental and Development Economics, Larry Long,  County Commissioners Association of Ohio, and a representative from Green Energy Ohio.   

*         Breakout sessions on:

o   Multi-jurisdictional agreements for land use

o   Mortgage crisis impacts for rural lands

o   Successful brown field redevelopment projects

o   Zoning issues: farming, livestock, wind turbines and oil and gas development

o   Protecting community water supplies through land use
