TIME IS RUNNING OUT!
Register Today for the Land Trust Alliance's
Determining Stewardship Costs and Raising and Managing Dedicated Funds
One-Day Standards and Practices Curriculum Seminar
Thursday, October 23, 2008
Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Have you been struggling with figuring out how much it will cost your land trust to manage its land and conservation easements for the long haul? Do you know how to arrive at a realistic figure? Although tricky, it is essential for land trusts to calculate the costs of stewardship and then raise the funds necessary to ensure that the promises made today will be kept in the future.
Come join your colleagues in learning about tools and practices that will help you make more informed decisions about how to determine stewardship costs and how to manage your land trust's financial assets and dedicated funds.
In this one-day seminar on October 23, 2008 you will learn how to do the following:
* Calculate the full stewardship costs of conservation easement and fee land transactions
* Determine present and/or anticipated future staff costs
* Evaluate potential enforcement and easement defense costs for conservation easements
* Assess costs of necessary legal or technical advice
* Understand methods of raising stewardship funds
* Differentiate types of dedicated funds, including stewardship endowments and legal defense funds
* Develop policies and procedures to manage endowments and dedicated funds
Participants will receive a copy of the Curriculum text to take home and use as a reference and a model for establishing policies and procedures to implement important aspects of the Land Trust Standards and Practices that will be covered in this course.
This one day training will be held at the Schlitz Audubon Nature Center, located on Lake Michigan 15 minutes north of downtown Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
The address is 1111 E. Brown Deer Road, Bayside, WI 53217
