You know, we just got a call last week from a property owner who had heard
about "Land Trusts" and wanted to learn more, but they were actually
referring to the same kind of thing as your spam email - perhaps similar to
a real estate investment trust? It was the first time we had heard the term
"Land Trust" used in this way, so Mark emailed the property owner's contact
to get additional information, and he sent some attachments describing this
type of "Land Trust." (If you'd like to see these, please feel free to
contact Mark or I off-list.) We planned to forward this information to the
Midwest LTA to see if they'd heard of it. It definitely muddies the waters
and could make things (more) confusing for a property owner who is trying to
understand land protection options.
