Subject: RE: [Michigan_LT] Conservation real estate transactions
Woody,
My name is Bill Vandercook, and I am director of the Sporting Lands Alliance
headquartered in Rochester, Michigan. Our organization was formed, in part,
to preserve land and access to land throughout the state. From 1999 to the
present, I have worked for the USDA and state conservation districts
specializing in land protection programs. I am also a licensed Michigan real
estate broker since 1987.
To my knowledge, there are no real estate companies that understand the
needs of conservation buyers, sellers, and conservancies in southern
Michigan. Today, brokers, real estate agents, directors, and trustees of
conservancies must have some familiarity of the many state and federal
regulations prior to working with conservation buyers and or sellers.
We have been trying to identify individuals to assist land conservancies in
preserving land in Michigan by acting as conservation buyers. Normally, this
would take place after the conservancy has secured the property.
Please contact me If you have information for conservation buyers about land
you are trying to preserve or have preserved.
Thank you,
Bill Vandercook
