Hello David,

I hope you are well now.

I think your three steps to take are the right ones. I am available for a
meeting.

Regarding grant funding. The Dyson Foundation has a minigrant program for
non-profits in the Hudson Valley. Among other things, they are very
interested in helping non-profits collaborate. Grants applications can be
for up to $10,000. I have a contact there in the mini-grant program. As
far as deadlines for grants - LTA's deadline is less than a month away.
Dyson's is a rolling deadline. Their application is on their website and
they generally decide pretty quickly - 2 months? Gee, having written all
this I may be volunteering to be on the Grants Committee - hmmmm.

Anyway, clearly I would like to move this ahead.

Chris

Subject: [Hvcatskillcewg] apologies

Good morning,

I have dealing with health issues over the past few weeks and have been
unable to get back to the entire group in any meaningful way. Here's the
bottom line on our next steps regarding Conservation Catalyst Grants:

1.	Some feel it would be better for the group to redefine its goals (it
has been almost two years we last did this), and create a costs schedule
before pursuing an LTA grant. This would mean applying for a grant next
year.
2.	Some feel that we should pursue a grant now and redefine goals after
hopefully being awarded a grant. Essentially using a portion of the grant
funds to facilitate goal creation.

I can see the value of both choices although we would be much better
prepared if we redefined our goals and prepared a related costs schedule
before applying for grant funding. We did create a topics list and had some
general agreements about # of meetings but much has changed in two years,
especially the most pressing topics of the day.

Secondly: We need to makes some decisions about Steering and Grant
Committees.

I recommend that we:

1.	establish a date for our next meeting
2.	redefine our goals at that meeting (goals may include regularity of
meetings, hierarchal master topics list,
3.	create the Steering Committee and the Grant Committee

Please let me know your thoughts on these issues and if you could be
available for a meeting before the end of the year. I recognize most orgs
experience an end of year crunch so would avoid the last 2-3 weeks of
December.
