Hello everyone in Hudson Valley Catskill easement group (and others),

As you know, Dave Diaz has been polling participants about meeting topics, grants, etc.  LTA NY has lined up an interesting day on Nov 18 to talk about conservation defense, and specifically would enjoy feedback on LTA's proposed easement insurance program. A draft outline of the session is as follows:
 

Tuesday, November 18th (11- 4 pm) - Gideon Putnam Hotel in Saratoga Springs, NY

 

Leslie Ratley-Beach, Director of Conservation Defense for the Land Trust Alliance, will be coming to upstate New York for a special ½ day workshop on Conservation Defense.  This no-cost workshop will include a highly interactive discussion on Conservation Defense.  In this workshop, we will:

→      Explore several important case studies on conservation defense-related issues (e.g. easement enforcement, amendments, violations, and litigation)

→      Discuss the easement insurance feasibility report and solicit land trust feedback

→      Highlight services and resources available through the Alliance’s national program on Conservation Defense, 

→      Introduce the soon-to-be released Standards and Practices course, Managing Conservation Easements in Perpetuity.  (Leslie is author of timely course and we are hoping to bring her back to New York State in early 2009 to deliver this training)
