Next meetingHello,
I think talking about accreditation would be great . Here at the Wallkill Valley Land Trust we intend to get prepared next year and go through the process the following year. First hand experiences as to what that takes and what works (and doesn't) would be very helpful

Per the emails below, how would the group feel about having the first part of our meeting be dedicated to Accreditation? We could get a first hand view of how the process went and the types of info and requests from two people that have gone through it (Paul Elconin-OSI and Damon Oscarson-Westchseter Land Trust). The second half could be dedicated to the conservation easement language issues previously spoken about. Big bang for our meeting time buck!
Thanks to both Paul and Damon for their willingness to share their accreditation experiences.

I'm happy to talk about Accreditation as well if folks are interested. I have been involved in a lot of it especially all the aspects of easements and land management.

We could also talk accreditation--both OSI and WLT have completed their apps, and I know several of you are beginning the process.

Hello everyone,
It's been a while since we had to cancel our last meeting. We had things moving in such positive directions I'm hoping we can get things moving again. I put out some feelers a few months ago about a potential topic for our next meeting. The topic was easement language, specifically language pertaining to some of the more difficult issues such as: wind energy installations, solar energy installations, and forest management. I also put out some feelers to those that might be able to present information to the group on these types of topics. They include NYS Dept of Ag and Markets, a Hudson Valley based solar energy company, and the Hudson Valley Chapter of the Society of American Foresters. I got positive responses from all. The focus would likely be site selection and best management practices. This could definitely help inform easement language.
Questions for the group:
Is this something that the group would still be interested in?
Are there other issues that we might want to secure speakers for?
Would we be interested in having our next meeting sometime in the latter half of January/early February?
