[Hvcatskillcewg] Aerial Monitoring with a Trimble GEO XT

Hello All,

I am curious to know if anyone out there doing aerial monitoring takes
their own GPS unit up with them for ease in monitoring. In talking to
our pilot from LightHawk, he mentioned it might be easier for us to take
up our Trimble (GeoXT equipped with ArcPad 6.0.3). The idea being that I
would create a route which once up in the air I could guide him with a
heading and distance to our next property to fly over, and then we would
also know at what point on the property we were, etc... This all sounds
great and possibly more efficient then having the bearings in his GPS
and some code that he would tell us we were near and then we would refer
to the paper and then flip to the map etc etc.

So my questions are as follows:

1.	Does anyone out there take up their GeoXT (or equivalent) to do
aerial monitoring
2.	Do you create a route in ArcMap or ArcPad to then follow once up
there (and how?)
3.	Does this seem to work well?
4.	Are there other tricks of the trade for locating properties from
the air.

Thanks for any help.

Heidi
