Please join the Land Trust Alliance and the Indiana Land Protection Alliance (ILPA) at the next quarterly ILPA meeting. The meeting will take place at Chapman's Banquet Center in Bloomington, Indiana from 9:00am to 4:15pm. An off-site reception will follow at Sycamore Land Trust's offices, which are a short walking or driving distance from the meeting location.

As part of this meeting, we are excited to offer the Land Trust Standards and Practices Curriculum-focused training, Preparing for Organizational Perpetuity: Board Governance, Fundraising and Leadership. This training is being offered to land trusts and other conservation professionals in Indiana and its neighboring states.

Since we are offering this training as part of this quarterly ILPA meeting, we are asking you to pre-register. Because of generous support from the Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust, this training is being offered for $25 per person for Land Trust Alliance and ILPA members, or $35 per person for non-members. Registration fees will include a copy of the Land Trust Alliance's Land Trust Boards: Preparing for Perpetuity curriculum workbook to take home and use as a reference. Please take advantage of this price reduction - this inaugural joint training costs significantly less than similar Standards and Practices curriculum trainings.

10:15am Preparing for Organizational Perpetuity:
                        Board Governance, Fundraising and Leadership
A good board is the cornerstone of a successful land trust. How do you know if your board measures up?

This one day training for land trusts and other conservation professionals covers the key aspects necessary to build strong organizational leadership on the board level, as well as insights as to how to enhance fundraising in a recession. Example topics include the link between a strong board and conservation success, the ethical and fiduciary responsibilities of the board, and the roles and responsibilities of individual board members and committees. Join our trainer, Judy Anderson of Community Consultants, to gain information that you can immediately use to strengthen the effectiveness of your board operations and position your organization for long-term success. You will receive practical advice on how to ensure that everyone is part of the fundraising effort and how to build your organizational membership program.

There are no pre-requisites for this training, and it is intended for all levels. Land trust board members, as well as other volunteers and staff who are involved in helping build and support a board of directors, will all benefit from this training.

4:30pm Reception at Sycamore Land Trust's Offices
